Our office strives to provide quality public service to all citizens and preserve all real estate and related documents with professionalism. It is our responsibility to file and record documents that pertain to real estate. These documents include, but are not limited to, deeds, affidavits, mortgages, assignments, releases, oil and gas leases, agreements, easements, powers of attorney, plats, surveys, real estate related death certificates, and military discharges.
The Register of Deeds also files financing statements or Uniform Commercial Code's (UCC). These would include federal and certain state tax liens, mechanics liens for automobile repair, and liens on fixtures attached to the land.
The Register of Deeds office became the custodian of the rural school records from the disbanded office of County Superintendent. We have school and teacher records dating back to the 1800’s.
All records in this office are open to the public with the exception of the Kansas Real Estate Sales Validation Questionnaire (SVQ) and military discharges, closed by State Statue.
