How do I change the name on my deed?

To change the name of an owner of a real estate property a deed must be filed in the Register of Deeds Office that shows a change in ownership.  

What are the requirements for filing a document?

To file a document in the Register of Deeds Office the document must be a document that has been signed before a notary public with original signatures. There is also usually a fee to be paid to file the document. 

My spouse recently died - how do I change the name on my deed?

If your property was owned in joint tenancy with your spouse, the filing of an Affidavit of Death or a Death Certificate to your spouse in the Register of Deeds Office will usually be sufficient to change the ownership to the survivor. 

What if I lose the deed to my property?

If your deed was filed in the Register of Deeds Office and it has been lost, a copy can be easily made from the records that are in our office. 

How do I get a copy of my DD-214 discharge papers?

If your DD - 214 discharge papers were filed in our office a free copy will be provided to the veteran or his immediate family. 

What year do the records that are in the Phillips County Register of Deeds office begin?

Some of the oldest documents recorded in the Phillips County Register of Deeds office are dated 1873.
