Roads and Bridges

The County Road Supervisor supervises the County Road and Bridge Department that constructs and maintains: 

  • 622 miles of gravel/ rock roads, 
  • 74 miles of asphalt roads, 
  • 537 miles of dirt roads, and 
  • Over 215 bridges and approximately 1075 Box Culverts (under 20 feet in length) …encompassing 900 square miles and 25 Townships. 

Phillips County has 10 motor patrol districts, each responsible for approximately 126 miles of road:

The Road and Bridge Department is responsible for: 

  • • Road and bridge construction plans 
  • • Providing information on road plans and right of way
  • • Right of way mowing and cleaning 
  • • Inspection, repair and replacement of bridges
  • • Snow removal
  • • Establishment and posting of speed limits
  • • Sign design installation and repair
  • • Construction, repair, resurfacing & road maintenance
