Instrumentation Technician – Phillipsburg

 

Position Summary

TAMKO Building Products LLC is seeking an Instrumentation Technician at our Phillipsburg, Kansas manufacturing facility.  The Instrumentation Technician will perform work activities pertaining to automation, electrical safety, reliability standards, inspection, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

  • Uses electronics and electrical test devices to test equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Performs electrical repairs on various types of electrical equipment per SOP’s and PM’s. Including 480Vac, 3-phase and 120Vac, single phase equipment. 
  • Read, understand, and generate standard electrical schematics.
  • Creates and modifies PLC and HMI programs.
  • Selects, installs, configures and calibrates industrial instruments and devices.
  • Bends, hangs and runs conduit where needed. Pulls electrical cable and wire in conduit.  Transports and stacks conduit and electrical wire as needed.
  • Understands, participates, and follows all applicable safety programs.
  • Trains operators on new systems and updates LOTO and SOP information.
  • Works rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and overtime as needed.

Requirements                                               

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high and/or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat and confined spaces. The employee is occasionally exposed to acidic or caustic chemicals. A respirator may be required at times. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
